It's Been a While

I am so excited. Today already has been a great day. This morning my Boo and I went and picked out a stone for our ring. Yeah. Awesome.

It's been hard to trust God's timing. Last year at this time we were talking about being married in the Spring, and the Spring came and went and then the Summer passed right by. We weren't married and I didn't even have a ring. You know what I may not even have that ring on my finger for a month, and we may not be able to get married next year.

But God's timing is perfect and we trust Him. If it isn't for a year He is still Good.

What?! Sarah Painted Something?!

So I am a hoarder of my own paintings. I find it incredibly difficult to give away larger paintings and by larger I mean not a card that I painted for a purpose. Last year, I painted a fox told my friend she could have it after I found it a frame. Basically I hung it up on a clipboard on my wall and never gave it to her. Shameful. So I started this painting with the intention of giving it to Jeffery, but I might have to "hold onto it while I look for a frame" ;).

2013-05-06 19.55.54
It was nearly done at this point. I started it a few weeks ago...and just finished it tonight. For me it is so difficult to start a painting, set it aside, and comeback to it to complete it. I basically have to do it all in one fell swoop to keep me focused. Otherwise I look at it and am like ..eh... not right now been there started that.

2013-05-06 20.31.49
Almost done....

2013-05-06 20.30.19
Finished! It is finals week so I thought it was the perfect night to get some painting done! Studying? What? Who needs that? I might part with this sooner rather than later... he kinda has crazy eyes. Not bad crazy eyes but crazy eyes none the less.

2013-05-06 20.34.05
These are some card that I drew and just never painted. They sit stacked on my desk. (Ignore the yellow sweat pants, and keyboard in need of cleaning.)

If you couldn't tell I enjoy painting and drawing foxes. lol.

Hope you enjoyed my stuff.

Today.

Ok so here is an update.

My lovely boyfriend moved to New Mexico (my state) from Louisiana. Awesome!. Although he isn't quite in my zip code yet. So last time I went to visit him we took pictures. He looks lovely but I am basically wearing my lounge wear. (Just a disclaimer.)

Lovely outfit right?

Not sure what face I was making here.
 Thoughts:

I am currently living with three roommates in an apartment where I have my own bedroom and bathroom. One roommate is one of my best friends and we had roomed together in the past so it is all hunky dory, awesome roommate living. The other two present interesting living condition continually. It has been a situation that has forced me to grow. It has definitely make me accept that when you live in a state of community it really helps to show you your sin. So it makes me deal with my faith.

Today I came home to a counter full of groceries. Just some background when I moved in our fridge and cabinets were stocked with enough food to last a major disaster, i.e. natural disaster, social disaster, zombie apocalypse. At that time there were two girls living here. Woah. Do you really need all that food, I mean really. That situation really hasn't changed much. So yeah, counter full of groceries. Are you planning on cooking for a family of 7?? It will be interesting to check our fridge and find the creative ways that it has been rearranged to accommodate the influx in groceries.

To cope with the lack of storage I have implemented several strategies.
1. Once you spot some real-estate in the fridge run to the grocery store that instance and get a few items you have been needing. I am not talking about buying the whole store. Remember other people need to keep their items chilled.

2. Upon securing valuable fridge real-estate when consuming you items always leave a serving of your item left. Then when you go to the store buy your necessary items eat your serving and BOOM! you have some space for your stuff.

Its all about maintaining your territory in the fridge.

3. With a packed fridge items can get lost in it due to arranging and rearranging. So if you come across something especially eww place it near the front so that the owner might be aware of the fact that they should probably resolve the situation.

4. Consider Craiglist for a miniature fridge. $20-75 dollars a pop. Hey not bad.

Tactic that I am hoping to work up to:

5. You are all in college. You all have left home and you all pay the same amount for rent. So calmly talk to one another. Maybe set aside areas of the fridge that "belong" to person. This also helps to teach one another how to manage their space, and they are aware that we all pay for access to a fridge.

Maybe

Do you even have those days when you envision an outfit, and are excited about it, but then when you put it on it's more of..."eh, I think it might work." This was one of those days.
Even though I was unsure I still went for it, but changed into some comfy shoes later in the day. lol. I am trying to stretch myself in what I wear, and this day I did so with shoes that have a heel on them. Typically the only time I wear heels is when I am going to church. I would like to rotate some into my outfits more often, and feel comfortable in them.

Ok yes I realize that Valentines Day is over. So this can also apply to just plain dating. Here are things that me and my man do to help us deal with being in a long distance relationship.

1. Try to skype every night. Yes everyone has busy lives, but when you make time for your love it shows them just how important they are. Even if it is for only a little bit. You don't have to have deep meaningful conversation every time you are on skype. Often we will do things we have to get done while on skype I might be writing a blog post while he is playing Castlevania. We are both doing things we enjoy and just spending time together.

2. Movie night. This one really helps if you have netflix, but hey blockbuster works too. So put on a movie and be on the phone together. Yes you may not be able to snuggle up while watching a movie, but watching while on the phone does make it feel like you are watching the movie together. It gives a shared experience, and when you think of that movie you will think of the time you spent with your love. It also gives you things to talk about when you are on Skype.

3. Read books together. FYI If you have a good book it might be hard to put down, but remember you are reading the book together. So decide ahead of time how many chapters you will read. Again, when you read a book it gives a shared experience, and it provides an opportunity to get to know your love's views. Here are few books that we really enjoyed reading, The Help, Gregor The Underlander Series, and The Hunger Games.

4. Go to sleep on the phone together. Yeah this might sound a little lame, but give it a try. It is hard for me to explain just why I love to do this so much it just nice going to sleep without have to say good bye.

5. Keep a journal together. This one is in the works for us. Buy a journal and keep it for a couple weeks at a time and write down your thought's or your day or just love letters to your honey. Mail it back and forth to one another. One of the best parts is, is that this journal becomes a keepsake of your love.

6. Plan your visits wisely. When you are going to go see your love it is wise to plan out your visit. This prevents any wasted time together, and allows you to have more memories of doing things together. The planning is also a bonding experience as well, you are able to see what your sweetie finds fun, interesting, or worthy of being time well spent. It also gives you more opportunities to take photos of the two of you doing things together, which you can look at when you go back home.

It's Been a While...

Since I last posted, holidays have come and gone. Here is a brief summary of everything..
I went to go visit this fellow ^ in Louisiana. It was such a wonderful visit.

What is a trip to Louisiana if you don't see a gator?

We did all sorts of things like: Spent time with some of my family, visited a local museum, I got a tour of his childhood neighborhood, we ate Canes chicken, fed ducks, went to the boardwalk, and got lots of Christmas shopping done.

My friend Destrea came to visit me and we had a great time together. I spent Christmas with my family and then came back to school for another semester.

Birthday Gift

This is what I got for my Daddy for his birthday. I got him these items because he is a man that doesn't need much, and he was pretty set when it comes to stand by typical daddy gifts. For him the stand by gifts include golf balls, and golf tees.

But he does like old things. So one of the best places in Albuquerque to find cool old things is in antique stores. Duh. They always have neat, different, and unique things, and the inventories are always changing. I recommend checking them out for those of you need to get gifts, and don't know what to get.

I got him an old oil can that I cleaned the grunge off of, and an old wrench. He really liked them both.

::A Thankful Thanksgiving::

Well I haven't blogged much lately, I have just been feeling so overwhelmed with school, and just trying to finish the semester. Sometimes it seems like life just gets to a point where each day you are just trying to make it through the day rather than enjoying it and the beauty of it. It is so wonderful to be home for the holidays
and...

There are so many things I am thankful for everyday. This weekend I am just so thankful of my family.

My Mother is a wonderful woman a couple of weeks ago she broke her foot with a fall, and even though she is limited she still does all she can for my family. Here she is cooking us our thanksgiving meal.

My Daddy, he is a wonderful provider he always makes sure that his family is taken care of. With my mother currently as she is he really has been doing everything he can to make sure that she is comfortable, and not doing to much. He has been doing everything he can for her.

It just so happened this year that my big brothers birthday landed on Thanksgiving!!!!

He couldn't come home for the holidays :( we really wish he was here, it just isn't the same without him. I am so thankful to have him as my brother, I can honestly say that he is one of my best friends, I can't wait to hang out with him this Christmas.

I hope you have a wonderful Thanksgiving!!

Little Bit of My Casita

Here is my table in use. The side table is a stump that we had at the house that I sanded down.
There is the table the was refinished.
The small stain glass is one that my mom and I made.
I made the pennant, and painted the frame and picture.

My couch is the most uncomfortable couch.. ever (Target), but! It sure is cute.
I figured the more pillows I make for it the more comfortable it is, and I have to admit the pillows did make an improvement.

Before::After

This Before and After is actually kinda even super neat to do because it was on the coffee table that we used throughout my childhood.  That said, It sure looked like the coffee table used throughout my childhood. There surely was some true wear on this table. It also was my grandparents they had gotten the piece with some matching sidetables down in Mexico. It was for this reason that when I asked my dad if I could re-do the table he said I could do what ever I want to it, but it was still one of my parents pieces of furniture.

 Scratched and just sad looking.

I started out the job with a palm sander then my dad was so sweet and made my life so much easier by buying a belt sander.
...I Love Belt Sanders.

The curvy parts took the longest for the tight fit areas I used a Dremel Drill with almost a gouging bit on it, so I had to kinda careful with it.

The natural wood grain was so very beautiful that I just used a tongue oil on it.

I very much love my table and I left a little line of the old stain because I liked the way it looked, and just to remember what it was like before.

40 Years Balloon Fiesta

One of the biggest events that the city of Albuquerque puts on yearly is the balloon fiesta, and even though I had only lived a couple of hours away from Albuquerque my whole life this year was the first year that I had ever been to it. The Balloon Fiesta is an international event and It was to say the least simply amazing.

It was especially neat because a week earlier I had the opportunity to go on a FREE balloon ride. Even though it was only 100ft in the air tops it was still a very neat experience.

The first official balloon launched

I thought this was a beautiful balloon.

The Creamland Cow was too big to get off the ground that morning. It was easily one of the biggest balloons there. To get an idea I was standing in the shadow of the cow when I took this picture.

Me (on the right) with my best friend.

Balloon Glow
Later that evening we came back for what is called the balloon glow. All the balloons are set up and they coordinate so that they all glow at the same time.

Free Balloon Ride
The weekend had started out as a crafting experience, and my friend Michelle and I had been out on the look out for chairs to revamp when we turned into this parking lot to take pictures of the balloon. When we got closer we saw a sign for free rides, and seized the opportunity.

What rocked as well is that it was outside an antique mall that had some totally awesome stuff in it. It was all in all a Score!

The balloon that I got a ride on doing it's thing at the Fiesta
